The Tauplitz lies in the heart of Austria, in the Ausseerland – Salzkammergut region, and, at an elevation of 1650 m, is actually the highest lake plateau in Central Europe. The six lakes on the Tauplitzalm, Krallersee, Großsee, Märchensee, Tauplitzsee, Steirersee and Schwarzensee, line up like pearls along the hiking routes and MTB trails. The Tauplitz is known for its mountain panorama. Grimming and Niedere Tauern in the south, the Dachstein with its glacier in the west and the Dead Mountains in the north limit the sky. In summer the Tauplitz is particularly suitable for hikers, mountain bikers, climbers and walkers. In winter mainly skiers and cross-country skiers are on the Tauplitz.
